Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 Spied in New Colour Ahead of Tomorrow's Launch
Royal Enfield is expected to launch the Himalayan 440 in India on September 4, 2026. The bike has already caught the attention of many riders who are looking for an affordable adventure motorcycle. The Himalayan 440 is expected to be placed below the Himalayan 450. It could also remind many Royal Enfield fans of the older Himalayan 411, but with a newer engine and updated parts.
New Matte Grey Colour Spotted
The new spy pictures show the Himalayan 440 in a matte grey colour. The colour gives the bike a simple and tough look. The fuel tank has the Himalayan name on the side. The bike can also be seen with black spoke wheels, large side panels and a chunky exhaust. Some of these parts look similar to the Scram 440. The earlier pictures also showed the rear of the bike. It gets a simple rear design, small indicators and a compact tail light. The motorcycle is also expected to come with spoke wheels and Ceat Grip XL tyres.
Engine Details
The Himalayan 440 is expected to use the same 443cc engine that is used in the Scram 440. This single cylinder engine makes around 25.4 bhp of power and 34 Nm of torque. It is expected to come with a six speed gearbox. Royal Enfield does not seem to be using a completely new engine for this bike. Instead, the company is expected to use the existing 440 engine and make changes to suit the Himalayan's adventure focused design.
How Is It Different From The Scram 440?
The Himalayan 440 may share its engine with the Scram 440, but the two bikes will be quite different. The Himalayan 440 is expected to get a 21 inch front wheel. The Scram 440, on the other hand, has a 19 inch front wheel. The Himalayan 440 is also expected to get long travel suspension. Reports suggest that the bike could have around 190mm suspension travel at the front and 180mm at the rear. This should make it more comfortable on rough roads and useful for some off road riding.
A Simple Instrument Console
The Himalayan 440 is also expected to have a simpler instrument console than the older Himalayan 411. The bike could get a twin pod setup with an analogue speedometer and a small digital screen. The screen is expected to show basic information such as fuel level, trip details and the odometer. A Tripper navigation unit is also expected. It could provide turn by turn navigation and smartphone connectivity.
Expected Price And Launch Date
The Himalayan 440 is expected to cost around Rs 2.40 lakh to Rs 2.50 lakh, ex showroom. At this price, it could compete with bikes such as the Yezdi Adventure, TVS Apache RTX 300 and Suzuki V Strom SX. The official launch is expected on September 4, 2026.
