Valorant's unprecinted rise in the world of esports led to many professional teams playing against each other on the grandest stage with the likes of players -Tenz , Zekken and Aspas delivering some of the most iconic and historic game plays. Much of it can be credited to Riot games and its focus on skill based matchmaking to ensure fair competative gameplay for all the athletes.

Riot games on 15 october 2019 announced the beta for Valorant, Code name being Project A. A tactical shooter with gameplay based on agent skills, with the release of valorant, the global competitive scene also came into play with players like TenZ, Shroud and Aspas, Shattering the leaderboards with their high-level gameplay while also creating some of the coolest clips know to us.
The main focus of valorant has been on agent based gameplay with agents having certain skills such as reyna having the ability to heal and dismiss (go invisible and becomes immune to damage for a brief moment). This agent-focused gameplay is a big part of what makes Valorant different, where knowing how to use your agent's skills at the right time can really change how a round goes. Agents bring a layer of strategy beyond just shooting.
Valorant had taken inspiration from another well known tactical shooter named Counter Strike: Global Offensive(CS:GO) now know as Counter Strike 2 (CS2). You can see some similarities in things like buying weapons each round and the importance of teamwork, but Valorant added the agent skills to make it its own thing.
Valorant added ranked system with starting ranks being iron, bronze and gold. For years players are hardstuck in these ranks while a small percentage truly skilled has reached the top of leaderboard. It can be tough to climb, and a lot of players find themselves stuck in the lower ranks for a while. Its only the truly skilled players who manage to make it to the top ranks.
This rank system has helped Valorant with Skill based matchmaking to ensure great game gaming experience for its players. The idea is that you play against people who are around the same skill level as you, which should make the games more fair and fun.
Valorant has created a flourishing global competitive scene with major tournaments like Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) attracting professional teams and a huge viewership. There's a big professional scene now, with teams from all over the world competing in big tournaments that a lot of people watch online.
