Why Love Turned Into Hatred in the House of Kansa

Before Kansa became the ruthless king remembered in the stories of Lord Krishna, he was known as a devoted brother who deeply loved his sister, Devaki. The royal city of Mathura was decorated with flowers, music, and celebrations as Princess Devaki married Prince Vasudeva. Kings, sages, and noble families gathered to bless the couple. Kansa, Devaki's elder brother, personally arranged the celebrations. His affection for his sister was evident, and the entire kingdom admired the strong bond they shared on this joyful occasion.





After the wedding, Kansa himself took the reins of Devaki's chariot to escort the newly married couple. In ancient times, this was a remarkable act of love and respect. The powerful king wanted to ensure that his beloved sister reached her new home safely. At that moment, no one could have imagined that this loving journey would soon become the beginning of one of history's greatest conflicts.

As the chariot moved through Mathura, a divine voice suddenly echoed across the sky. It declared that Devaki's eighth son would become the cause of Kansa's death. The joyful atmosphere instantly turned silent. What had begun as a celebration became a moment filled with fear, uncertainty, and destiny. Overcome by fear, Kansa immediately drew his sword against Devaki. Vasudeva stepped forward and pleaded for her life, promising to hand over every child born to them. One by one, Devaki's children were born inside the prison. Believing he could escape his fate, Kansa killed the first six infants. The seventh child, Balarama, was divinely transferred to another womb. When the eighth child, Lord Krishna, was born, divine intervention ensured his safe journey to Gokul. Destiny moved forward despite every effort to stop it.

Kansa believed his enemy was an unborn child. In reality, his greatest enemy was his own fear. Instead of seeking wisdom, he allowed insecurity to control every decision.
