POCO X8 Launched Globally: Price, Battery, Display and Full Specs

The POCO X8 has been launched in global markets as a mid-range smartphone. The company is focusing on battery life, a bright display and better durability with this phone. POCO has also launched the more expensive F9 Pro and F9 Ultra at the same time. However, the X8 is aimed more at people who want a phone that can easily get through a busy day without needing to look for a charger. Its biggest highlight is the 8,340mAh battery. POCO claims it can offer more than two days of normal use.




The POCO X8 comes in three storage options. The 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model costs $269, which is around Rs 25,500. The 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version costs $299, or around Rs 28,400. The top model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at $349, which is around Rs 33,100. The phone is available in three colours: black, white and orange. The design has a modern look with geometric lines on the back.


The biggest talking point of the POCO X8 is its battery. The phone packs an 8,340mAh silicon-carbon battery. This is a big jump over the previous model. POCO says the battery is large enough to provide more than two days of normal use on one charge. The company also says the battery can keep at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 full charging cycles. According to POCO, this could mean around six years of regular use. The phone supports 67W wired HyperCharge. It also supports 22.5W reverse charging. This means you can use the phone to charge another device when needed. The battery has also received a TÜV SÜD 5-star Battery Performance Certification for safety and battery performance.




The POCO X8 comes with a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen. It has a 1.5K resolution, so videos, photos and text should look sharp. The display also has a 120Hz refresh rate. This makes scrolling through apps and websites feel smoother. For gaming, the touch sampling rate can reach up to 3,200Hz in Game Turbo mode. The normal touch sampling rate is 240Hz. The screen can reach up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness. This should make it easier to see the screen outdoors. POCO has also added features such as DC dimming and 3,840Hz PWM dimming. The phone has TÜV Rheinland certifications for eye comfort as well.

The POCO X8 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset. It is made using a 4nm process and has an octa-core CPU with speeds of up to 2.4GHz. POCO says the phone can score around 946,548 on AnTuTu. For normal use, the phone should be able to handle apps, social media, streaming and multitasking without much trouble. It is also designed to handle casual gaming. The phone runs on Xiaomi's HyperOS 3. It also comes with features such as Google Gemini, Circle to Search and AI Erase. POCO says the phone can offer a like-new software experience for up to 60 months.

The POCO X8 also comes with strong protection against dust and water. It has IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings. These ratings give the phone protection against different levels of water and dust exposure. POCO says the phone has also passed a 2-metre, 72-hour water resistance test and a 3-metre drop test on granite. These tests were certified by SGS. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which should offer better protection against everyday scratches and drops.



The POCO X8 has a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation. It has an f/1.8 aperture and is designed to take detailed photos in different lighting conditions. There is also a 2MP depth camera for portrait photos. For selfies and video calls, the phone gets a 16MP front camera. Another useful feature is dual video recording. It allows users to record video using the front and rear cameras at the same time.

The POCO X8 also comes with several useful features that people may find handy in daily use. It has an in-display optical fingerprint sensor for unlocking the phone.
