The Land Rover Defender 110 has become significantly more affordable in India, with prices now starting at ₹99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The reason is a major change behind the scenes: Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has started assembling the SUV in India using completely knocked down (CKD) kits instead of importing it as a fully built vehicle. The move cuts the price of the 3.0-litre variants by ₹34 lakh and brings the entry-level petrol version below the ₹1 crore mark. Buyers also get more standard features, making the updated Defender 110 worth a closer look.

Defender 110 Prices Start at ₹99 Lakh

The India-assembled Defender 110 is available in the X-Dynamic HSE trim with three engine options. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol version costs ₹99 lakh, while the 3.0-litre turbo-petrol and diesel variants are priced at ₹1.18 crore each, ex-showroom, Delhi. Previously, the 2.0-litre version cost ₹1.13 crore, while both 3.0-litre versions were priced at ₹1.52 crore. This brings the entry-level model's price down by ₹14 lakh and the larger-engine versions' prices down by ₹34 lakh.

Why the SUV Is Now Cheaper

JLR has started assembling the Defender 110 at its Pune facility using completely knocked down kits imported for local assembly. Earlier, the SUV was imported as a completely built unit (CBU). Local assembly can reduce costs associated with importing a fully built vehicle, helping the company offer a lower retail price. The change applies to the Defender 110, while the Defender 90, Defender 130 and flagship Defender Octa will continue to be imported from JLR's facility in Nitra, Slovakia.

Three Engine Options to Choose From

Buyers can choose between two petrol engines and one diesel engine. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol produces 296 BHP, making it the entry-level option. The 3.0-litre turbo-petrol delivers 394 BHP, while the 3.0-litre diesel produces 346 BHP. Both 3.0-litre versions cost ₹1.18 crore, giving buyers a choice between petrol performance and diesel power at the same listed price. The right option depends on driving preferences, expected usage and running costs.

More Features Come as Standard

JLR has also made several previously optional features standard on the Defender 110. The 3.0-litre variants gain up to 29 additional standard features, while the 2.0-litre version gets 17. Depending on the variant, the equipment includes an electronic active differential with torque vectoring, heated third-row seats, a Meridian audio system, a head-up display and 20-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels. These additions improve the overall equipment package without requiring buyers to select as many individual options.

The Entry-Level Model Gets Useful Equipment

The ₹99 lakh 2.0-litre turbo-petrol variant also receives a substantial standard equipment package. Features include adaptive off-road cruise control, adaptive air suspension, three-zone climate control and heated, ventilated memory seats. These additions matter because buyers often compare luxury SUVs not only by engine output but also by comfort and convenience. The expanded equipment list means the entry-level Defender 110 offers more of the features buyers may otherwise have considered optional extras.

Bookings Are Open Ahead of Deliveries

Customers can book the India-assembled Defender 110 through JLR's official website or authorised dealerships. According to the announcement, deliveries are scheduled to begin on November 15. Buyers should confirm the delivery timeline, waiting period, variant availability and final on-road price with their dealership, as on-road costs will be higher than the ex-showroom prices listed here. Insurance, registration and other charges can vary by location and purchase configuration.

New Defender 110 Prices at a Glance

The revised pricing gives buyers three choices within the same X-Dynamic HSE trim. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol version is priced at ₹99 lakh, while the 3.0-litre petrol and diesel versions cost ₹1.18 crore each. The largest saving is on the 3.0-litre variants, which are now ₹34 lakh cheaper than their earlier CBU prices. For buyers considering a Defender, local assembly changes the price equation while the additional standard features strengthen the package.
